“God must have something for you to do”
How many times have we heard that said after a near tragedy? A nurse, EMT, or maybe a family member will look at some person who nearly died in an accident or survived a particularly bad heart attack and tell them that God must have spared them because He had a purpose for them.
We say the same thing when we see a young person leave the church and begin to make one disastrous decision after another. “God must have a calling on them, and Satan is trying to destroy them.”
I do not bring these sayings up because I disagree with them. No, I agree wholeheartedly.
In fact the scripture teaches God has a purpose, plan, and will for every person, not just those circumstances. God has a calling for every individual, and Satan wants to stop that calling from being fulfilled… in EVERY life.
This means YOU.
God has a purpose for you. The creator of the universe intricately designed everything from DNA to the contents of our air, to the angle of our planets axis, to the speed of its rotation. Do not think for a minute He just made you for no reason at all.
So the question is formed. What is God’s purpose for you?
I don’t know the answer, but I know where it can be found. Purpose is found in God’s presence.
Today seek God with your spirit open to his calling.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11
