Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:  20 That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them..

You have a choice.

But, pastor they…

You have a choice.

But, I…

You have a choice.

But my schedule, my kids, my job, my spouse, my pastor, my church, my boss, my bills, my history, my family, my tendencies, my weaknesses, my flaws….

You have a choice.

You always have a choice.  Whether it is choosing to sleep in or get that work out, read or watch TV, speak words that build up or pass that gossip along, entertain that thought or rebuke it, live in victory or defeat… You always have a choice.

My wife, Heather, is an amazing mom and is always looking for teaching moments.  She has a favorite mantra she uses with our three year old, Reagan.  Whenever Reagan is in one of those perplexing moments of deciding how she is going to behave, her mom will say “Reagan, make good choices.”  Occasionally after she has knocked something down by climbing where she wasn’t supposed to, or after putting stickers all over the furniture, Reagan will look at me and say “Daddy, I’m not making good choices.”  Little does she know it, but she is teaching a valuable lesson to anyone who is listening.  Even at three, she is discovering that the decisions, and consequences, in her life are all about her choices.

When it comes to consecrating ourselves to God, this is no different.  Two days ago, we started this walk understanding we are on a journey of moments.  That is a great start, but we must understand what it really means. If you truly want this month of consecration to be all it can be for your life, if you truly want your new year to have a real fresh start, you must understand this one thing.  Choice.

You have a choice.  Every new moment brings a new choice.  Every conversation brings a new choice.  Every temptation, every thought, every worry, every situation, they all bring a new choice.  What will you do with the choices you face today?  Will they be about what brings God glory?

People can’t force you.  Satan can’t force you.  Circumstances can’t force you.

Every defeat and every victory, every moment of overcoming and every failure, begin with the same thing, a choice.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it

You have a choice.

  1. ABSOLUTELY. THIS IS DEAD ON IT!! I was just talking to Brezzy about choices the other day. She says she doesn’t know y she does what she does and I told her she does what she does because she chooses to and then I read her this. See it just shows that God is listening to me because he sent this to me just in time . Thks for obeying Gods word.
